    Teaching Style

    New Zealand offers a very supportive environment for its international students. The number of students per classroom is often smaller than in other Western countries, allowing for more personalized attention.     Intakes in New ZealandΒ 

    In some universities, intakes may also be referred to as a semester. The two intakes available in New Zealand are:

    • Semester 1: February to June
    • Semester 2: July to NovemberΒ 

    Admissions for vocational courses may also be available in the months of March, April and May.

    Before applying for the visa, make sure that the basic requirements are met for securing admission to your desired institute and program and to secure a New Zealand study visa. Below is a list of required basic documents for New Zealand:

    Admission Process & Required Documents

    Academic documents

    • IELTS/TOEFL Score (5.5/6.0 for the diploma, 6.0 for the Bachelors & 6.5 for the Master)
    • Passport
    • Work Experience (If any)
    • University/College Application form (Offer letter processing time 1 to 2 weeks)

    For Graduation:

    • Completion of an equivalent of year 13.
    • Minimum requirement of 50-60% or above for admission.
    • English Language proficiency test such as IELTS.

    For Postgraduation:

    • Minimum score of 50-60% in undergraduate studies.
    • GMAT or GRE scores are required for management studies.
    • Some universities may consider work experience or internships.
    • English proficiency must be demonstrated through tests.

    Visa Requirements

    • Financial Undertaking Form/s (If more than one guarantor)
    • Affidavit/s of Support from Guarantors
    • Authorization letter/s from guarantors authorizing Immigration New Zealand to verify their financial documents on their behalf
    • The students should provide evidence of funds upfront for the duration of the course that encompass two academic years or less inclusive of living expenses (NZ$ 15,000 per annum)
    • Education loan sanction letter from a nationalized or multinational bank only
    • Latest bank statements for the past 6 months
    • Fixed Deposits. Public Provident Fund Accounts/Employers Provident Fund Accounts, Post Office Accounts, and National Saving Certificates are required to be disbursed into savings a/c of acceptable financial institutions.
    • Medical Certificate / Police Clearance Certificate.
    • Student Visa application form and the supplementary information form.
    • Photograph / Visa Application Fees.
    • Covering letter.
    • Educational certificates (with translations if required).
    • English language requirement.
    • Evidence of Employment.

    Cost to Study inthe New Zealand

    Most commonly humanities, arts and education courses are cheaper, while subjects such as medicine and engineering are likely to be more expensive. If you wish to study at postgraduate level, the tuition fees are typically higher and the costs vary depending on the program. As with most other countries, MBA programs are often the most expensive. The average cost for these programs ranges between NZ$31,000-50,000 (indicative).
