Living costof Canada
Indeed, there's a significant contrast between living in Canada and your home country. It's crucial to explore the Canadian way of life and the cost of living in your intended location. Quebec, in particular, stands out as one of the more affordable Canadian cities, with notably lower living costs compared to other urban centers. Additionally, when applying for your student permit, you must demonstrate to the Canadian government that you possess sufficient financial resources to cover your expenses. So, keep this requirement in mind!
As you plan your budget, make sure to factor in the following expenses:
- Communication Costs: Allocate funds in your budget for phone and data bills, especially since you'll likely be in touch with friends and family back home. Consider seeking out cost-effective calling plans and student discounts. On average, you can expect a monthly cost of around CAD 20.
- Textbooks and Supplies: Purchasing textbooks can be a significant expense. For instance, textbooks for engineering courses may range from CAD 250 to CAD 350. The costs for courses like law, medicine, and pharmacy can be even higher. To manage this within your budget, consider options such as buying used books, opting for digital versions, or taking advantage of library memberships.
- Personal Expenses and Incidentals: Your everyday spending will include items like laundry, toiletries, clothing, dining out, and more. The extent of these expenses will largely depend on your chosen lifestyle.
